The Power of Eco Friendly Lighting.

Lighting accounts for 20% to 25% of all electricity consumed in the United States; in U.K. households use £1.9 billion worth of electricity every year on lighting, while over 70%  of the householders admit that they have never examined their homes for ways to save energy.

There are some optional sources of lighting that determine how eco friendly is our home lighting. The greenest lighting would be when we use the free sunlight. Eco friendly homes are usually designed in a way that it can bring inside as much possible sunlight to the house to replace the light generated from lamps that requires fossil fuels combustion. Sunlight can also be produced as electricity or energy, known as solar energy.  If you are using lamps for lighting your home, then the kinds of electric bulbs also count on how green your lighting is. Solar lighting will not generate emission and pollution and is money-saving.

The source of your energy supply is also one thing that effects how eco friendly your lighting system is. The common power generation plants are mostly operated by using coal and nuclear which also producing harmful by-products. Coal-Fired Power Plant the kind of power plant which is used worldwide is considered to be amongst the most harmful source of energy, both for the environment and for human health. Mercury naturally contaminated coal, and when coal is burnt to produce electricity, mercury is released into the air through the smokestack.

24,000 people a year die prematurely because of pollution from coal-fired power plants. And every year 38,000 heart attacks, 12,000 hospital admissions and an additional 550,000 asthma attacks result from power plant pollution.

Coal-fired Power Plant also damages the environment.  Except tossing mercury, one plant can create hundred thousands tons of toxic waste (sludge and ash), containing arsenic, chromium and cadmium. This toxic waste can contaminate the land, water and air, injuring the ecosystems. Fossil fueled power plants are main emitters of greenhouse gases (GHG) which according to the consensus of scientific organizations are a major contributor to the global warming observed over the last 100 years. Along with the awareness of their harsh impacts to the environment and human health, some eco friendly alternatives of the energy supply were invented.  Today we have some options of energy supply that are not based on the burning of fossil fuels or the splitting of atoms, that generates  pollution, emission and radiant or other harmful waste. These energy sources are called renewable energy and alternative energy.

One of that eco friendly energy is the above-mentioned solar energy, energy or electricity that is produced from sunlight. There are numbers of lighting products made in base of solar energy, such as solar lamps, solar street light, solar lawn lights and solar garden lamp.

We can help reducing the emission and pollutant generated from harmful source of energy by using those solar lamps.
